Many non-dominant languages and dialects are at the edge of becoming extinct due to economic and political advantages advocated and consolidated by governments and markets. Globalization also accelerates the process of linguistic disappearance. However, when a language is lost, so is the culture. In this panel, we invite guests to explain the significance of language diversity, share their efforts and thoughts of language preservation and restoration, and offer educators and social workers suggestions about language preservation at the family, school, and governmental levels.
